season in the NFL -- seeing both of my favorite teams the San Diego Chargers and Green Bay Packers eek into the playoffs, what better way to get into the 2014 Hollywood slate than with the trailer and poster for the April release of Draft Day starring Kevin Costner.
You may remember that I had a post last year when the NFL draft was going on to watch the floor for the movie as it was being shot in and around the festivities. Now the movie is ready to head to theaters on April 11. Just in time to get your Draft Day fix in theaters before the real NFL Draft Day in early May.
Take a look at the trailer below.
Meant to share this last week, but a bit behind on things --

A wide variety of titles this month, take a look.
Before Midnight – Rated R (Ethan Hawke, Julie Delpy)
The Conjuring – Rated R (Vera Farmiga, Patrick Wilson)
The Internship – Rated PG-13 (Unrated available) (Vince Vaugh, Owen Wilson)
The Way Way Back – Rated PG-13 (Steve Carell, Sam Rockwell)
Kind of a cool week on DVD. Before Midnight has a cult following that absolutely loves the film and will, I’m sure, be in their households by the end of the week. The Conjuring was one of those movies that genuinely freaked me out a bit, and in a good way. It was a decent scary movie and is hitting right before the scary holiday. The Internship may find a second life on Bluray and The Way Way Back is way way underrated.
Also New This Week
As Cool As I Am – Rated R (Claire Danes, James Marsden)
Barbie and Her Sisters in A Pony Tale
Dead in Tombstone– Rated R (Mickey Rourke, Danny Trejo)
Free Samples – Rated R (Jess Wexler, Jesse Eisenberg)
I Give It A Year– Rated R (Rose Byrne)
Morning – Rated R (Jeanne Tripplehorn, Laura Linney)
Nikita: The Complete Third Season – Not Rated
Only God Forgives – Rated R (Ryan Gosling, Kristin Scott Thomas)
A variety of titles for a variety of moods…Come on, you know Barbie and Her Sisters is Number 1 on your list. (It would be if you had a 9 year-old girl!) But take your pick and try something out.
Final Score
Adding The Conjuring to the mix would be a fun addition to bring out each year for a “real” scare type of movie. And I really enjoyed the performances in The Way Way Back, so I’d consider adding that to my collection as well.
Pop Popcorn, Do the DietDew, and Bust out the Blu and remember to Save Me A Seat!

I'm not going to lie...I'm kinda excited about this.... Check out the trailer for Red Dawn circa 2012...let me know what you think...
The original film was one that really catapulted the PG-13 rating into existence, and now we get to revisit with a different "enemy" a story that was long over due. The cast is young and hip but it's kinda weird as a November release instead of being smack in the middle of the summer. That said...I'm excited to check it out.

Those of you who haven't known the turtles...they are back. Sure some generations grew up with them, and the ninja rap. But these are the new turtles who have made a resurgence thanks to Nickelodeon and others.

Take a look at the trailer below.
Back to Jump Street…College Edition!
Ahhh, Jump Street – you know the home of the office that housed the incredible crime fighters that are youthful and can infiltrate high school. You know the home inside a church that housed not only
22 Jump Street is right across the street from the old building and the film is much like it’s predecessor. Back are the talents of Schmidt (Hill) and Jenko (Tatum)along with their boss Captain Dickson (Ice Cube). But this time they are going to college, and have a bigger budget, but they are going to college (that’s more important). They are searching for the dealers, to find the suppliers. Wait…haven’t we seen this plot before?
Ah, so we have….that was the story about high school that resided in the first film. But this is the second film and we have a bigger budget to do things AND we’re in college now…so those scenes in the credits…well they can happen in the movie now.
Sure the running gag is the increased budget and the fact that they are doing the same thing throughout the film, but the funny thing is, instead of feeling tired and worn out, it works. The laughs are there including one sequence that I laughed at harder than in recent memory (it’s in the chief’s office about half way through the film, that’s all I’ll say!).
The chemistry that Tatum and Hill have finds a way to permeate every scene in the film. And Ice Cube truly shines here as the Captain (in fact I can see him being the centerpiece of any sequel beyond this).
There’s a fun montage within the end credits of possible sequel ideas AND a brief 10-15 second scene after the credits with some characters you’ll remember from the first film.
Despite a couple slow spots, this is a raunchy good time at the movies and uses its R rating to the fullest. Now on to the condos at 23 Jump Street...
B+

The trailer for the new film starring Michael Keaton about what life is life long after a superhero has stopped playing the super hero.
Well...I guess there was a birthday present for me after all - (well of course other than spending the evening with Tom Cruise and the new movie Oblivion) It's a new trailer for Man Of Steel --- enjoy!
