Salt That is Good For You

Evelyn Salt (Angelina Jolie) is good at what she does. As a CIA agent, it’s important that many don’t know what you do for a living. She’s ready to celebrate her wedding anniversary with a man who entered her life for purely business reasons. Unfortunately, a man walks into her office and offers to identify a Russian spy that is about to assassinate the head of the Russian government on US soil. The name of that spy is Evelyn Salt.

Salt’s boss Ted (Liev Schreiber) supports his employee as she maintains her innocence. It doesn’t take long for circumstances to force her to take matters into her own hands and run.

The chase is on and Schreiber now joins his fellow agents in trying to recapture Salt and find out the answer to the question that looms. Who is Evelyn Salt?

Angelina Jolie knows how to kick some butt in her action roles. That helps us believe anything she does onscreen, and that is front and center in Salt. Each and every film tends to solidify the fact that Jolie is a very versatile actress.

Schreiber is the perfect person to play off of Jolie in this film. He is calm cool and collected as things unravel around him.

Director Phillip Noyce puts the start through the paces in this fast paced thriller. It moves to keep your focus off anything that is just off on screen.

Salt will make you frustrated if you think about it too much. It seems there are a number of liberties that are taken to keep us moving and on target. While I find myself picking on some films for taking liberties, Salt is one of those films that I would just advise folks to take things with a grain of salt and enjoy the ride. The excitement level is there, the action is there, the pace is fast and you will enjoy the experience.

Instead of nitpicking, take this advice on this film. Grab an extra large tub of popcorn (with salt), sit back and enjoy.
